"Fixin' to..."

Weekend before Christmas, I was up in North Texas... in a very very small town. I giggled every time 'fixin' to...' was used. Only on account my friend from Pennsylvania said that she knows she needs to leave Texas if she starts using 'fixin' to' in daily conversation.
